and one of my favorites but it is not a bear or elk cartridge. It would be fine for a black bear if he was treed by dogs but a bear has a thick skin plus usually about 3 to 4 inches of fat under the skin and that bullet has to go thru all that to get to the vitals.
And those guys in Alaska that recommend the 10mm need to stop their drinking. I hunt Alaska and I have never seen a 10mm handgun on any guide's hip. Most that I know of start with a 454 and go up from there. The handgun they carry is to get them out of a bad situation where the client has wounded or just pissed off a Grizzly or Brown Bear and a 10mm won't fill that need.
