Very humbling. You leave this world, who gets your stuff?!

I forget the verse in the Bible but there is a passage about a guy counting all his material wealth and it's pointed out; other people are going to enjoy all that you think you possess. You can't take it with you. Nor would you want to.

God bless Jeff's family and especially Boge.

to do is leave your family with some valuable guns, not a bunch of old ratty Mausers or British 303s or Ravens and Jennings. And have paperwork showing your family what the guns should sell for.

A great idea, and to really get it done.

I've been thinking about it too long and need to produce. There are hopeful heirloom pieces with a story to carry on after. Also there will also be simple trade pieces too. Heck my books are fairly valuable to some folks! I do need to make a list.

I created a spreadsheet with the physical data and values

are one of 2 things, either full of old junkers like old Mausers that he bought from Sears in 1965 for $10 or they are really nice guns. Not necessarily Weatherbys or Sakos but nice well cared for Winchesters, Rugers and Remingtons. Gun guys like to tinker and rifles and shotguns that have been well "tinkered" for don't bring the family much money.

Fortunately Colleen knows the values of most of my guns as I have weeded out most of my less than pristine handguns. Actually paying for a $25,000 Cape Buffalo weeded out several of my handguns that weren't family heirlooms or guns that had sentimental value. I may have one or two rifles that I never use and they are "as new". My failing is the hots for nice O/U shotguns, especially in 28 gauge. But again Colleen knows the values of them.

What all this rambling adds up to is if you are an old goat like I am and like several on here are you might take a long look at the guns in your safe and maybe weed out stuff that your family might have a hard time moving should you croak tonight. I have a lot of respect for John Taffin. A while back he went thru his guns and made a list of them and beside the list wrote down which family member got that gun at his death. I thought that was a great thing to do. None of us are promised tomorrow and leaving your family with the least amount of stress and burdens is a good thing to think about.
