After checking cameras and feeders today, I got to do a little shooting. The 475 LB I bought on the board here is a sweet shooter. 340 gr powder coated cast bullets of 27 gr of 4227. Its the first load I tried just to have something to shoot. Its been accurate enough on cans an bottles,.. might have to shoot a target next time out.

Also,.. I used a Lee Loader for the first time.. the dipper does limit what you do with powder, but it made a fine accurate load. The rifle I bought had a set of dies that looked new, but the lee loader looked used. So I used that. I loaded up with dipper using 4895. The only powder I had appropriate to the loaders info. I'll admit I didn't trust it. I weighed the powder several times and never was more the a half grain off when it was off. I loaded one to check the cartridge as the COL was set already set. I new the load was in the middle of the data and safe, but the bullet was seated long but deep enough. So I just went with it. Shooting at an axe mark X I made on a Pine tree at about 100 a yards, the old mauser shot about 1.5" groups with the 5 cartridges I loaded. According to the data the 150 gr bullet should have been moving around 2600 FPS. It was a pretty soft shooter even with the steel butt plate. And I'm a bit of a recoil wimp at the shoulder. I'd much rather shoot heavier recoiling stuff in a hand gun.

So, for the first time in a while I had a good shooting day.
