I remember reading about them, maybe only 500 for a police agency up north. Sort of a modernized .38/44 HD.

Police and like the Model 58 was on the N frame. S&W made a couple thousand of them for the NY police dept and then the NY Police reneged on the deal and they ended up being sold to the public if I remember right. I saw one of them but it was heavy, bulky and sort of a clunker in the hand. It came into our shop in Florida on a trade. I don't remember what it went for but it was used and not exactly a highly desirable revolver. That was back in the late 90s if I remember right.
