Are there any firearms you regret buying?

Last year a group of friends got bit by the waterfowl bug. So they kind of talked me into buying a Benelli Super Black Eagle 3. To be brutally honest, I hate the gun. I’ve hunted geese and pheasant a few times and I just don’t shoot it well. Oddly I shot better with an old Mossberg M500 pump 12 gauge than this thing. I feel like selling it even though I’m going to take a little bath with it.

i almost regret

getting a ruger american in 6.5cm to try out long range target shooting .i quickly got bored with it .it would shoot sub 1" groups @100 yards .i had more fun building and load development than shooting it .other than .22s and lever actions i've never been much of a rifle shooter. always liked hand guns better. thought i would take a big loss on the rifle but ended up trading it to a friend for a gas powered miller welder on a trailer.

I had a like experience and they sent it back to us. Did the same thing again. We tried several types and brands of ammo. There were a couple that it did do better using. However still unacceptable to me. Superb sub MOA accuracy when it all came together. It even double fired several times. I took it apart and basically blue printed everything, removed all tool marks, cast flash, polished and trued all. TO mot much avail. My friend who actually owned the gun finally just took it and shot it. Shot it a bunch. After a few thousand rounds it seems to work pretty good. Still doubles every once in a while. I can't figure that.

He dropped it off a tractor and broke the stock at the thinnest point. I contacted the factory and they wanted the serial to quote a stock replacement. I provided it a couple months ago and have not gotten word. I need to email them again. I'm going to make a huge mess of polymer epoxy to fix it externally, reshape the area, since it cannot be altered internally as room will not allow. It's going to require some red neck finesse. But I can put windshield wipers on a Goat's ass AND make them work, if I have to.

Everyone makes some turds.

Marlin did a few, early semi-auto .22's feeding through the butt. The Winchester 190 rimfire line and they even did some hammerless pumps and levers too. All one's to stay clear. The 1200/1400 series of shotguns are not the best designs either. But they sold a bunch. Factories make guns to produce revenue, make money, period. The Remington 5mm bolt rimfires actually were discontinued due to blowing up! Not lagging sales as many think. There are lots of insider info that has been suppressed over the years.

I had a brand new Colt Anaconda stainless .45 Colt 6", paid like $800 for it. I was so excited. The thing was badly out of time right out of the box! Ow could that be? Besides indexing the cylinder by hand how could they have even tested it?! I was sooooooo pissed. It got this old Colt fan off the brand right then and there as for new product.

and the S&W model 29s were selling for 3 and 4 times retail, I had to have one. A guy in our town ran an ad for an 8" blued model 29 so I called him. I went by his house and looked at the gun. It was new in the box. Retail at the time was less than $150. The guy wanted $400 for it and I paid it. I always hated that gun as it reminded me that I was a dumb shit to pay that price. Shortly after that I started working part time at the local gun shop in the afternoons. I was still at the radio station and had the morning show so I was out of the station by noon or so. Anyway the gun shop got in one of the first 44 Auto Mags and I traded that $400 model 29 for a $269 Auto Mag and even though I gook a bath on that deal it felt good to be rid of the S&W Model 29. The Auto Mag became one of my favorite hunting guns after that.

... thought I'd like it a lot more... but as 'age' advances, I much prefer grabbing 'other' handguns... Possible not enuff time was given to "bond" with it... lol.

I'm not a DE fan myself. In fact I dislike most "hunting"

grade semi-autos. The AMP felt horrible in my hand and the silver front sight was almost invisible. It was no huge powerhouse but by golly was it accurate! The Wildey is impressive as a machine but I'd not invest that much in one. The DE is just to bulky and does not "feel" right to me. The grip angle is wrong for one. It works well though and is about as powerful as a standard .500 cal. revolver.

Blake is the owner of the only 1911 based hunting semi-auto I really liked and shot. I built a Uber Glock myself (.45/.460,10mm, and 9mm cal.) that has the performance and accuracy but lacks passion and emotion, it's just a shooting machine.

No apologies, I'm a wheelgun man. Roman however, does delight in the big ugly gun.

While it functions, it had to have the worst trigger I’ve ever encountered. It had a point mid-pull that pressure would build like it was about to fire and then you would have to keep on pulling through that to a second point when it actually did fire! For a really cheap self-defense personal carry weapon, it works; but I’m at a point in life that I don’t need to out up with that so down the road it went.

The other is a Llama 1911 in 38 Super. I bought it used in college mostly because I always liked the cartridge. It would eject the spent cases and literally hit you right between the eyes with them. It sat in the back of a safe forever until I got it out and tuned it with the right springs and took a file to the extractor. Works well these days. My old dad is thinking he needs a house gun so I’ll probably just give it to him if he wants it. He likes 1911s and he and my mom are coming by tomorrow.

The worst and only bad gun was one of my favorite brands.

A Marlin model 60 jamomatic. I haven't owned a semi auto rifle since accept AR's. I've had people give me Remington semi autos like the 7400 and they didn't work. I always got them to quit jamming and sold them. Matter of fact I have one now in 30-06 that I need to work on.

Yes, a .243 WSSM. Never lived up

to its expectations or hype. I got rid of it and traded for a .243 Remington 700. It is a great rifle and the loads crony out at the correct velocities.

I had a desire, an intense want for a mannelicher rifle for years, especially after I passed one up in Germany when I was TDY there. So I finally got to a point where I could almost afford one and bought a used one in 270, a mannelicher steyer full stock. I could shoot three rounds at 100 yards that would touch but then the 4th round and 5th round and on would drift left inch by inch. the heat in Florida was no help either. I never figured it out. It was and is maddening. Then there was the Ruger mini 30 ! I got a used one and it shot everywhere so I sent it back to Ruger for another barrel. Put a scope on it and it was perfect at 75 yards, after that the circle of impact broadened to the point I got upset with it and got rid of it.

What was I thinking?

X-bolt? maybe? Glock43 is more accurate at 100 yards. But actually my son bought it and gave it to me to try to get it to shoot. I couldn’t do it. He said to sell it and keep the money, but i don’t dislike anyone that much. I did think of sending it to hillery though.

I shot too many Magnums through the little 340 and damaged the nerves in my hand. Thankfully healed up after a year or so of not shooting much.
