guns while the S&W letter said 3000. That is the only difference I can find.

Florida was rough. Scratches and dings all over it. He had a set of he brown rubber grips on it. I had never heard of the model 520 so I looked it up. I thought it said there were 2000 of them but it was probably 3000. Long time ago. I only remember it because it was an unusual model number.

That one for sale is near perfect, all documents

No bids. So it puts a pretty good ceiling on the market value. The 520 and 58 are interesting models with very historic roots. The old .38/44 has a much more attractive barrel contours as well as the hammer. It’s sort of Salvador Dali looking To me, I like it.

It’s the subtle features like that which attract me to vintage models as well as the details on fine customs.

38/44 HD's are beautiful, you are correct. Didn't

think somewhere around 2005 or so. I may be off on that time frame. It was the same gun but on the L frame. I don't remember much about it. I don't think I ever saw one. It was a 6 shot 357 on the same frame as the 586 and 686. It was a blued gun and there was talk of a stainless 620 but I never heard if it ever saw daylight or not.
