Throats are .456, shoots great with .456 diameter cast bullets, not quite as good with hard cast .454 bullets. Shoots horribly with any factory 45 Colt bullets. For light loads the collar button 45-70 bullets sized to .456 shoot well at close range (4.7 grains of 231).
The Freedom Arms has .451 throats and it’s difficult to load .452 cast bullets in the chambers. It shoots good with .451 cast bullets. It has a 3.5” barrel, so i have to really take my time and concentrate to hit with that shorter sight radius.
I guess you got my mind wandering a bit too, thanks Jim
