today. If you haven't seen one yet it is the very first Glock pistol, almost identical to the first model 17. The first gun Glock came up with they planned on calling it the P-80 but were talked into dropping that idea and going with the model 17. The P-80 will be a limited edition series of guns.

When I heard about this gun coming out a month or so ago I thought it was just a possibility, not a sure thing. The reason for my doubts were that the young shooters want all the bells and whistles and gimmicks whereas the P-80 compared to what we have in the Gen. 5 guns, is very plain jane. But that seems to be the thing today, bringing back the original AR-15, bringing out the S&W Legend guns, bringing back the Python, the Detective Special, the Cobra and so on. It is like the gun companies are aiming a whole large group of guns at the older shooters to give them a gun they grew up with. Whatever the reason it seems to be working. A few years back I went ape shit and bought all the special guns I grew up with like the Sears Model 29, 30 and 31 rifles chambered in 22 LR (all made by High Standard), the Sears semi auto 12 gauge shotgun also made by High Standard for Sears, and the Marlin 99M1 rifle in 22 LR. There were several others that I am still looking for and the really strange thing is in my bucket list of guns I grew up with there is only one handgun. It was the High Standard Double 9 in 22 LR. It was a 9" barrel 9 shot 22 LR. Sure seems that High Standard ruled my shooting back then. There was also a Colt SAA clone that I tried to put a scope on it and it was never really quite right with that rounded top strap. It went bye bye somewhere along the line.

So maybe this thing with bringing back the old classics will catch on and we might see a pre-64 style Winchester model 70, or a Remington model 600, or a Remington model 721 and 722 or....well a fellow can wish. It does make me wonder that none of the guns on my wish list are handguns. Maybe just old age setting in.
