I dug out an old Remington 721 .30-06 I picked up a couple years ago. Cleaned it up good and got it to the range today. Only 25 yards at our LGS but put 5 Shots in less than 1-1/2 “‘off hand, open sights! Going to be a keeper for sure! Date codes show Sept 1949 production.
Next up is an old Pre-64 .30/06 ( (1957) that I need to put a recoil pad on. May have to drag along a Savage 99, .300savage with that one.
Got several old rifles that need cleaned and shot.
My 1917 Enfield and two 03-A3’s, all professionally sporterized have been shot quite a bit recently and are keepers too!
Our 2 indoor range stores here in Bakersfield have been sold to turners outdoorsman so we are not real sure what the future looks like. Real pain in the ass to go out anywhere locally to shoot. Big changes coming....

I had a nice 721 in .300 H&H

It had a Bishop tight grain walnut stock on it. It was a delight! Three shots into a 3/4-1” 100 yd group every time. Recoil was not too bad either. Many of them were converted to .300 Wby. A very popular conversion.

I passed on one of those and regret it...

Hard to find since so many were rechambered. Lipsey's has #1s in 300 H&H this year. But, I bought the limited edition 275 Rigby instead.

Colleen has the 722 in 222.

And the first of a new case. Was the bench rest dream cartridge until the PPCs.

That's one to hang on to...

The .222 has just a bit more neck on it, must help

shooting 10 shots into the same hole at 200 yds. has to have something to do with the case design too.

I grew up wanting one. Bought a Remington 788...

When I was just out of high school. It shot just like all the stories claimed the did.

I have a 722 in .222 and a 721 in ‘06.

Still looking for a .300 H&H. The Triple Deuce was grandpa’s deer rifle. Headshot them to save meat.

Lots of them made in .270 too.

I think Ruark used them in Africa, the Safari camp had them, the 721's in .270/.30-06 and .300 H&H. Of course many camps also had the M70 Winchester. I remember Winchester had an Englishman Pro hunter hawking their wares, trying to drum up sales on "Post-64" models. The world was changing, wars looming. Ruark was gone too, in 1965.

721 and 722

I had a 721 in .270 win and a 722 in .222 Remington that shot incredible. Like a fool I sold them.
