How much higher or lower would a 300 grain .44 magnum hard cast bullet impact the target compared to a 240 gr. JSP or JHP. Assume the target is at 25 yards.
Lots of variables on that. Including, but not limited to...

Grip frame and each individual's way of holding the gun. For me, very little difference with a Ruger Bisley, but considerably more with a plow handle.
Barrel length and dwell time matters too. Sure others can tell you more than I have.
Of course Huey is correct. Generally speaking

I’d bet between 4”-8”. Usually it is within the realm where you can crank the rear sight down far enough to adjust it to POA. For me it’s almost down tight against the stop. I prefer a 6-O’clock hold, I like to see where the bullet is going to hit, just above the top of the sight post. You can speed up the 300, to hit lower (it’s farther down the bore before the recoil makes the muzzle rise as much). That’s the theory anyway.
I’d much rather have a gun shoot high, than low. Then again it’s easier to take a little off a sight post to raise impact than add to it and lower impact to POA.
I keep an assortment of rear sight blade heights too..

I usually pick a front sight (when an option) that corresponds with a .256" rear blade. Then I can switch to a .140" or .300" if I run out of adjustment.
Depends on the ammo, barrel length

and other factors like frame, grip etc. The Garrett 330 grain superhammerhead ammo at 1400 fps will hit at the same point at 25 yards as the 240 standard 44 mag ammo. Of course that depends on the velocity of the standard ammo that you shoot. I have shot all four, 240, 300, 320 and 330 grain 44 bullets in my Super Red Hawk and my Red Hawk. At 25 yards all seemed to hit at POA or within an inch or so. Flinch has a lot to do with that LOL. The larger bullets usually hit high at closer ranges because they are sighted in for longer ranges. Just my observations from shooting the 44 mag. I really prefer the older I get to use the 44 spl rounds in 240 grain as they work just as well. The critter is just as dead.
BTW, for a discussion of super hard cast

bullets and penetration as well as looking at the ballistics of the Garretts ammo go to http://www.garrettcartridges.com/. I have used their 330 and 310 ammo for years.

always shoot several inches high for me. This being due to the recoil and barrel rising a tiny bit before the bullet leaves the barrel. Your mileage may vary.
There is only one way to find out-- shoot it!
