I bought two boxes of that ammo last Fall... I was hoping to buy a Ruger 5.7 x 28 pistol. The idea of being able to load 20 rounds of a high velocity cartridge sounded like a good idea to me. I found a gun for that caliber in my local LGS and purchased the gun. Now, I have the gun but only 100 rounds of ammo. I normally buy at least 500 rounds for any gun I buy that I don't already have ammunition for.
I can't find ammo anywhere in that caliber. I've tried many internet searches. Have tried my trusted and true suppliers with no luck.
Does anyone have a LGS that might have ammo in that caliber? I've asked my LGS store owner and he laughed at me....

"Their prices are way too high."
How high of price are you willing to pay when there is not anymore available, anywhere?
Like your LGS, I'm getting a good chuckle out of this myself.
very very little ammo is getting to the gun shops

these days and we can't order anything. That is totally out. Pretty much all we are getting is back orders. And asking for 500 rounds is being a bit greedy when others can't even get one box.
No GNR, 10 boxes is not a little greedy

it is a whole lot greedy. But the shop I go to in Nashville has the same batch of extra greedy people who demand multiple boxes when everyone else gets one or two boxes at max. Maybe you should put up a sign saying "greedy assholes not welcome here".
Charlie, I would be happy if more people were like the

Misfits on here. These guys on here realize there is an ammo problem and as far as I know they don't demand bulk ammo with the guns they buy. But there are always people who think they are special and should get special treatment. Thank goodness we don't have but a very few of them on here.
I think most misfits have a good stock

On hand, plus some reloading supplies. More is always better, but not worth paying stupid prices.
It's greedy in SW FL, 1 box w/ a gun.

I take it you do not reload. I have read some nasty things about loading that round. I'm at a bit of a loss as to why it would be tough to load for. Only a two die set would be required, basically a teeny rifle round.
I'd look at buying 500 pcs. of brass and the necessary components. Consider it a scavenger hunt. For not too much over $200 you might be able to compose the components to load your 500 rnds. Brass, dies, bullets, primer$, powder... The next 500 loading would be only about 1/3 as expensive. You already have dies, brass, powder. Welcome to reloading!
The cartridge is "blow back" gun specific. Basically that means to the reloader it cannot be hot rodded and strict factory spec. ballistics and loads adhered to. No drastic changes in bullet weight or style, nor speed. Not experimenting! The bolt and spring is designed to hold the breach closed just long enough for the bullet to get down the bore and drop pressures where it will not blow out the thin part of the case. Sounds like fun to me. I do the same for .351 and .401 Winchester. *Special note: Some of that cartridge's brass may be Berdan primed and not readily reloadable. Look inside with a flashlight and two holes straddling the center is a Berdan primed case, a single central hole is Boxer primed and small pistol or small rifle domestic primers should suffice.
When those guns get to be around $400 I'll spring for one. Surely guys will tire of expensive ammo and their fun will be spent. I'll wait like a patient buzzard.
OK Monsieur Boggs, where do you find

500 pieces of brass? Then where do you find 5.7 dies. Then where do you find the correct weight bullets. Now you are back to zero.
Who’s crazy enough to reload that?! Lol

I can get it, takes a bit of work. I figure a man who spent $850 on a gun that needs ammo can scrounge it too. Lol
I just got set up for 7.62x25 Tok. Took orders from four different places, but it’s doable.

I have investigated loading the 5.7 x 28 and have found the factory brass is said to have a propriotary coating. But, like Gary says, where do I find the brass? Got lots of primers and powder but no brass....
Took me 15 seconds to find some...

cartridge like that you are going to encounter a bulge. Not worth the aggravation. I used to load 221 Fireball and a friend gave me all his once fired brass. Some were so bulged that they weren't usable.
