I am heading out next week to a friend's ranch near Goldthwaite to hunt whitetails. We have been friends since the first grade and we are both closing in on 80 now. I have been going there a couple of times a year for the last 15 years or so. He has over 2K acres so there is plenty of room to enjoy. Hogs continue to be a problem so it looks to be a good hunt. This year I am taking my usual Reeder .45 Backpacker prototype and a Marlin in .375 Winchester. I have killed a number of deer and hogs with the revolver, but this is the first hunting trip with the Marlin. I am taking a few other guns just to shoot some. If I don't have fun it will be my own fault.

Good luck. I like when you post pics of

Thank you! The 45 Backpacker is a great revolver. I really enjoy it and carry it most of the time in the woods. Barrel is just under legal limit in AR for hunting but that's ok. I have found that a 260 or so grain SWC at about 950 fps handles hogs and deer very well. I limit my shots to about 40 yards or so, but that is my limit not the gun.
