Contender barrel with the external Hot Shot choke. I knew what I was going to do. I re-chambered it to Maximum with the proper throating that TC screwed up. Now it shoots .38 Special, .357 Magnum, and Maximums all equally well. My favorite load is a 200 gr. RCBS FNGC running 1650 fps ahead of a full charge of AA1680. The recoil in the old school Contender is "brisk" but mostly manageable with the old walnut saw handle grips circa 1974. I put a Bushnell 2.5 Phantom on it and it is as good as they ever were. Takes me back to my youth.
