Dont know why I have not heard of the 35 WCF.
Neat cartridges. Very much a 405 Win necked down...

To 35 caliber. Or 40-72 necked down maybe. Was lots of interesting cartridges in those days.
With the quality of the Miroku Winchesters, a new one in 405 WCF sure sounds good.
It's close to a lower pressure .350 GNR.

I'd say at least as a collector. The sight is worth a ton by itself. My favorite fact is how the 1895 was used by so many explorers and is seen in the old photos from Africa and other remote locations. Telescopic sights were of little consideration in that day. They needed a reliable handy and powerful rifle for defense and to garner game to feed the camp. The 1895 must have filled the bill to have so many in use.
I'm half tempted to place a bid?

I bet it don't go for only $1600! It's not been messed with, in good shooting shape, and with that sight, in a good unique caliber it's a good one. It's a shooting investment.
Money is getting tight for most folks, it might be a buy!
It sold for $1,825
