Was sizing some today and saw splits forming about 3/8 up from the rim. All Starline. The Federal brass I have has been loaded 4 more times than the Starline. Shoot it in a carbine, revolver and Contender. Just curious if others have this issue with the 327.

Only shot in a Single Seven revolver but

don't recall any Starline or Federal splitting. Mostly non magnum cast bullet loads though...

Splits really bad. The stuff is apparently loaded hot.

I've had no issues with Starline Brass either.

Starline has always been good to us when we order

large batches of GNR brass, but lately they have been less than satisfactory. I know Bobby (the owner) very well and may have to get with him but the people I have talked to on the phone have been less than helpful. The problem is some of the new revolver brass is thicker in the interior walls than normal. In a sizer die when it goes in the die, well lubed, it takes both hands standing up, to get the brass out of the die. I really believe I can break a Dillon 550B press if I am not careful. I have tried 2 different sizer dies and the problem exists in both. I called Starline and get the run around. they tell me it is my die when I know it isn't, as I have used those dies for years and never had a problem. Looking on the internet I see quite a few people are having the same problem, so it isn't just me. But Starline's not being willing to even talk to me about it is what bothers me. And I bought 500 rounds of each of these 2 cartridges that are totally useless right now.

Haven't had that problem in a sizer die. But...

I did have a few 44 Specials be contrary in my Lee Expander Die. I polished the expander in the Powder Thru Die and the problem went away.

Have to agree that something has changed. Hope for minimal problems in the future...

I don’t know if this helps but

I once had a sizer die with a crack in the carbide ring. It scratched the brass enough that the brass always split.

this was in 45 Super brass and 500 S&W Special brass

I had to go to Rem brass as I thought I was going to rip my Rockchucker press off of the bench trying to size them down.

NO PROBLEM WITH ANY .327 BRASS BUT
