a new 1911 from Springfield Armory

Gun writer Dick Williams brought by the new Ronin 1911 that he is doing an article on. The gun is a decent 1911 but I don't really see anything special about it. But being in the custom 1911 business I tend to be a bit too critical from time to time. I guess I should mention as I have done before that Springfield Armory is not one of my favorite companies, not even in the running. But the gun is fine. No problems that I found. I have not shot it as that is Dick's baby. If the new Ronin lights your fire, by all means buy it.

It is a handsome 1911, subtle featured.

In the movie the other Euro trash operators gave Deniro's character crap for packing an old school 1911. This kind of pays homage to that. Simple, classic, with attractive features.

There's another fan of this movie?

So good and seemingly so forgotten. It is 22 years old, after all.

"Old gun."
"It served my country well."
"But you haven't done so well in the past couple of wars, have you?"

Great script by David Mamet, pseudonymously.

Great chase scenes too!

Never mistake the pretense for the real person.

Seconded

Never confuse the art with the artist. That whole premise is what "cancel culture" is founded on.

I think De Niro is a great actor and love most of his movies. That doesn't mean I have to agree with what I think are his dumb politics. Until he runs for office and wins, he's an artist, not a civil servant.
