Reeder Custom Guns - 41 mag for whitetail?

I have been invited on a deer hunt this weekend. I would like to use my ultimate 41 in 41mag. The problem is that the current load I have ready to go is a 215g SWC with 8gr of unique, so 950fps or so (not verified with a chronograph). I don’t have time to develop a new load before I leave. Shots will be 30 yds or so and the deer around here are 100lb +/-. I can shoot this combination very well.

Would any of you have concerns using this load?

My back up would be my 356gnr, which I have no doubt will do the job, but I have already killed a hog with that one and I wanted to get a kill with my 41.

If you are confident with load and it is accurate, that combo will work

I guess I was caught short due to poor planning on my part. I was shooting the unique load all summer for practice, gun range is closed now due to COVID-19, so developing something else isn’t an option right now.

I still have the 356gnr, a 30-30 and a 243 ready to go.

To always be prepared. Now I think you have learned the same thing. I rarely ever shoot heavy loads anymore and just this week I gave my grandson all of my favorite factory .44 Magnum loads for deer, the Black Hills 240 JHP. Almost all. I saved 30 rounds just in case I should ever go hunting again with my Freedom Arms 7-1/2" Model 83 which is sighted in for this load. At this stage of my life I will probably never ever need them but they are there and ready. It sounds like you have excellent backups just in case. God Bless and have a Happy Thanksgiving.

I have a 445 SM G2 wth brake I am hanging on to so I can get a bison. Not planning to hunt with my 44 mag and will pasz it on to my son. Will probably pick up some 44 spl revolvers soon. I have my 356 GNR G2 and Southern Comfort revolver for hogs and deer. Just picked up a .357 Max G2 barrel to try. Got a.45 Henry carbine gifted to me, shopping around for a Marlin or Rossi in .44, .357 and .22. I don't have any desire to be shooting high caliber, high recoil guns at my age.

I have killed a lot of deer with 44 special and 45 Colt with bullets ranging from 240 to 270 grains at about that same 950 fps. Keep your range short and hit them right and it will do the job.

or revolver. Keep it close and in the vitals and it will be fine. I still only shoot power house loads still.

If you can shoot the gun well and you are confident in your abilities by all means take the 41 and enjoy.
A lot of deer have met their demise from a 22 long rifle.

I wouldnt hesitate. Make the right shot, done deal.

Shot placement is paramount.
