I lived under a Socialist/Marxist government for 6 years.
For the most part, people still do what normal people do ... try to make a living, feed their families, get their kids in School .. no matter what the obstacles.

No, they do not have the freedoms we have enjoyed, but neither do we. Ask any old fart who was born in the 1930's or 40's and they will tell you how much things have changed.

As Waterboy said, none of us are guaranteed tomorrow. We can worry about tomorrow but tomorrow is only an imagination until it arrives ... and we don't know what is really going to happen until it does.

Preparation for difficulties is good. Do not forget spiritual preparation. Without that component your preparations will not be sufficient, no matter what we may face.

Back in the 1970's when the "prepper" movement got going in earnest, one of the leaders of the movement who wrote books and gave lectures on how to prepare had a cabin fully stocked in Mexico and one in Colorado. He thought he was ready. Then he had a heart attack and died. I often have wondered if he had done his spiritual prep work.

Spiritually requires no explanation. Every day it seems to get worse. But, Christians already know that's why "days have been cut short."

If you save money, you're declared greedy. Always makes me smirk when someone with a beer in one hand and a cigarette in the other comments on someone who contributes to their savings.

Now, we're hearing it about putting back reloading components, ammo, etc.

Seems the wisdom of bringing oil for the lamps is still relevant.

growing up on farms and ranches, grandpa and grandma and my mom and dad always had a supply of what was needed on hand. It was too far to run into town if you needed a little of this or that. Weather .. problems on the ranch with horses or cattle or whatever kept you busy. If you didn't have what you needed or some way to make it you were in trouble.

Living in Africa was the same way. When a ship came into port and suddenly some of the shops had peanut butter, we bought 5 instead of 1. You never knew if there was gonna be any more in the next 6 months.

I sometimes would share a little about some problem we were facing fixing something or getting something working ... and you would not believe how often someone would email me and tell me "Go to the hardware store and buy ....... you can fix it with that." It was only 2000 miles or so to Johannesburg where they might have had whatever it was!

Here in the so-called "developed" world, people have gotten used to just running to the store when they need something.

Event. If you ran out, you went without.

I've just never understood people passing on good buys on reloading components, etc.

It's like JT was saying. People live the high life and don't worry about tomorrow. Gotta out do the neighbors today.

I've already been asked for primers and rimfire ammo. I'll always help my friends out. But, those folks I hear from are S.O.L.
