Reeder Custom Guns - Cast Bullets for .410 GNR

This will be my first GNR cartridge and I am looking for bullet recommendations. The plan is to use it for deer and pig here in Florida out to 200 yards. A big deer for our area might push 185 lbs live weight but most are smaller. Our pigs get big and 300+ pounders are common. I normally like to shoot the 80 lb ones for eating but would take a big boy if close enough. Garry and any of you experienced with the round I am open to suggestions. I am more experienced with cast bullets but if jacketed bullets are the way to go I am open to them too. This will be out of a five shot with a 6.5” barrel. Thanks for any suggestions. It is a beautiful gun and I can’t wait to get it in my hands and shoot it. I think this is going to be my primary gun from now on although I will still take the Shiloh .50-90 out on sunny days

They are relative pea shooters in recoil compared to big heavy bullets in large calibers. Yet you can hunt anything in N America with that 410. I have never recovered a bullet ( thru game) out of the .410. I know components are hard to come by, but I also like the Sierra 220 Silhouette bullets. They are very accurate.

I have taken the African Savannah buffalo with the 255 grain hard cast with gas check. One shot. Plus quite a few other like size animals. This out of a 6" revolver. The 250 grain hard cast gas check bullet is good too.

small SD and ES --I have not tried heavier bullets but I am sure they would work well too---210gr hp like Speers work well too-- As a cast bullet nut-- all I shoot are cast- though My fav load is GNRs starting load of 28 gr of H110 252 gr cup point or 238 gr hp both are cast. The round in my Redhawk is surprisingly very pleasant to shoot

I used some old Cast 255 grain gas checked Cast Performance Bullets and Sierra 170 grain jacked soft points. The 170 grain are easier for an old man to shoot but both rounds take down anything I have crossed here in the lower 48 and would most likely work just as well in Alaska. ( I think I would use the 255 grain bullets there though). If you can not find the CPB gas checked bullets the I would suggest call Montana Bullet Works in Bonner MT. ph:406-244-3855. They are really good folks and very reasonable in pricing.

The 41’s and 38-40’s are a joy to shoot

the 410 GNR will take just about anything in the lower 48

Mine does its best ballistically with the 250
