The unloved non-magnum Curr that found a home.

I had passed it over for a month! Every trip I could see invisible $100 bills lying all in front of the display case. Finally I could not stand it. It has served its purpose for a while. “What’s a .44 SPECIAL?”, “That’s NOT a .44 Magnum, it won’t shoot .44 Magnums?”, “That’s not a 6” barrel?”. Scores of the young and uneducated (in sixgun knowledge) have given it a glance. None likely ever heard of Keith or even heard of the two Elmers, Fud was the other, now outlawed. No one for at least a month wanted it, they had their chance.

No matter that some goober (I would have done it too) absconded with the $200 S&W original target stocks that once adorned this 624 no dash. But I have a line on this VietNam dude that makes replicas that are convincing enough I bet Mr. T might not catch it at first glance, for $60 or so! I have no idea what he makes them out of, old pallets or what, but they are fine looking. I’m going to be sourcing a pair before they go away.

This is more of what I call a “Shootist’s” handgun. You’d really have to load your own ammo to truly enjoy it as intended. Maybe even cast your own slugs with square lube grooves not rounded backed grease slots. Lol SO Merry Christmas to me. I’m happy as a clam. I note this has the longer rear sight with a square tip, not rounded and oddly it is factory tapped with three holes under the sight through the topstrap for the factory standard S&W hole spacing. How naughty!

Better than a 44 Magnum any day...

I’ve wanted a pre-safety Mountain .44 a while

But every time I find one on GB at a reasonable start some swinging Johnson runs the price well north of four figures! I’m just not ready for that, no matter how I like the gun. The mountain 629 is simply a RB .44 Mag with the 624 4” barrel on it. Heck of an idea!

But this will do nicely. Boy that long barrel sights good and it’s so light and lively.

Cripes! I guess the no-dash 624’s were SB?!

It is a square but N-frame. I guess an early 624 with the old style rear sight and SB chassis. But the scope holes look factory. Perhaps early transition.

Hmm. I thought all the 624s were square

except the 3 inch? Haven't paid much attention though.

Later “N”’s were all SB. Not sure on 624/24’s.
