Reeder Custom Guns - this is embarrassing! We are now out opf

9mm, 38 spl, 357, 380, 45 ACP and Long Colt, 22 LR, 223/5.56, 12 gauge buckshot, and a lot more. Just 2 weeks ago we had at least one 1000 round case of most of these and today none. I have a sign up front saying we will buy any factory ammo in full boxes. Hell, we may have to do like the stores did when I was a kid and put loose ammo in a bowl on the counter full of ammo and sell it by the piece. Our custom guns are going nuts too. Just this morning we sold the Hog Hunter 357 Maximum and the Ultimate 357, and the custom Browning Hi Power. Even our custom guns showcase is almost empty. This is embarrassing to say the least.

40 S&W, 10mm and one lonely box of 45 ACP. Even the first two of those were in short supply.

No rimfire at all, 9mm, 380, 38/357, etc are not to be had.

Surprisingly, they have a great stock of 5.7x28mm. But, it's not terribly popular here.

57 in our showcase for a week and nobody has even looked at it.

of good used guns I hadn't shot in years and a few boxes of ammo and took it out in trade. I got 2 new encore barrels, 41 GNR and 310 GNR, and 2 new 2X Leupold scopes.

To get. My shop has a huge assortment of 9mm guns. But, 40 and 45 have been impossible to get.

Even the one I got was a factory refurbished gun. Looks new, so no issue to me.

On several waiting lists for a Glock 29. Maybe one day I will get one.

With 10mms. Or were you thinking 40S&W?

The G29 is the same gun in 10mm. It's one of those right place at the right time things.

The LGS's are bare but the base exchange had a decent supply of Glock, Kimber, Canik, S&W, RIA and CZ pistols. Absolutely no ammo though. Long Gun selection was minimal. I had two Taurus G2's ordered through my LGS but the distributor cancelled the order.

Geez, who knew they made so many 9mm variations.

Glocks are unique, much better word than "special". You can take a bigger cartridge model in "some instances" and simply swap a barrel and or magazine to have a second caliber. They are drop in parts, generally. It's a small matter to take a G22 or 23 (you might need to be Generation specific on very late guns) and swap in a 9mm or .357 SIG barrel to convert them. The .40 mag usually will work fine. Ditto for some of the other .40 cal. models. However you can't go the other way, 9mm to .40. The cut out in the slide for the barrel hood is only as wide as the original cartridge. One a little too big does not matter much. Also the aftermarket is rife with "conversion" barrels.

Ditto I took my G21 .45 and installed a G20 10mm barrel and mag to convert it. Shoots fantastic. While not condoned by the factory, the practice is well known and documented in print. You don't change springs or extractors, nothing else is truly needed.

Glock factory barrels are polygonal rifled and thus the bores are oversized trying to bump up cast bullets to fit. Often they can lead badly and it builds up. My theory why Glock does not condone lead bullets at all, rightfully so. The aftermarket barrels are generally conventionally cut rifling with square bottom grooves that displace more bullet metal and fill the bore better. That's why it's better to have a aftermarket barrel to shoot lead in Glocks. Having said that, I've shot lots of lead in standard factory barrels mostly without issues. On occasion I have leaded the barrels and scrubbed it out with brass wool. Also most aftermarket barrels have better case web support in the chambers (Glock has improved on this) and chamber tolerances too. I Hope that gives you a little head start on information.

I'm certainly not urging anyone to do warranty voiding things, that is your responsibility. But maybe the general information will enlighten you as to what is commonplace in the plastic tupperware world of Glock.

I have been wanting to get a long slide 10 mm for a while. The base exchange and lgs' don't have any. For where I live it should be adequate for hogs and most other game. Been looking at 1911 style 10 mms but wonder about doing a Glock with longer barrel and maybe even a brake.

I have shot heavy loads of 200gr hardcast @ 1250fps thru it w/o any leading whatsoever in the factory barrel. Just stay away from softer lead bullets and you will be fine. The hardcast are very accurate too. Compared to my 1911 Longslides, its much lighter to pack and that's what I carry with me on hikes. A ton of real firepower.

I have been thinking of selling a couple to sponsor something else. I like the idea of a "hunting" .40 S&W. A couple buddies have G35's (including you) that I know they just love. To be different I thought I might try a G24. Just a half inch longer actually but styled differently.

I'll let you know in an hour if I go crazy. Alas, I have a drawer full of Glocks but I think, I feel, I need them all!

And I can find nothing the 9mm can do as well. I truly like my 9mm guns, but the 40 S&W has performed better in dirt, boards, magazines and bullet proof plexiglass.

All I can read on the propaganda pages is the 9mm guns hold more rounds. That is without a doubt true.

I think any of the defense rounds 9mm thru 45 ACP are perfectly capable.

It's almost laughable at how the "media" tries to turn the tide. I think of the 40 S&W as the Donald Trump of cartridges.

My laughing goes away when these "experts" want me to believe their next article. I'll pass...
