Reeder Custom Guns - Been a lot of posts about Glocks the last few months...

Not without good reason. They are terrific guns. I've had several for hunting for years. More accurately, to carry while hunting.

Like many Misfits and other folks with good sense, I've been revamping the defense battery. So, along with buying ammo, I've added a couple Glocks more appropriate for defense.

I'll post more on these later as improvements are made. But, for now, a G22 and G30 have joined the stable.

My loading of choice is the standard 230 gr. FMJ ball ammo. It holds 10+1 and I did install the fancier bottoms on the mags that match the contours of the factory grip. But that's all. The trigger is about 5.5# and that is fine. Much lighter and it gets soggy around the break point. This is enough I can feel it positively stop, then it breaks.

Roman has a G19 and I have a G20 SF. As mentioned I have a box of barrels for my G20 to make it shoot - 9mm Luger, .40 S&W, 10mm, .45 ACP, .460 Rowland. All in that one gun! It has been an amazing test bed for my tinkering. I installed a dis-connector with a tab you had to hand fit for a trigger stop/reset point. I got to the point where it would finally fire, then went a few thousandths past. I also think I put a 3.5 lb. trigger spring in it. Much beyond that with Glock triggers you start spending big money. For some reason my wife does not like Glocks at all. Just not her cup of tea.

Don't like Glocks, don't care for the triggers, don't like the plastic.

I am happy other people do for it keeps a vital part of the gun industry going.

I have no argument about a "better" semi-auto handgun. This is purely my personal preference and is not meant as a slam against those that like them.

You'd not shed tears if you dropped it in the woods. I was looking at a genuine Bisley 1873 Colt in .32 WCF. As you said about the same price as a 1 oz. Double Eagle coin! It was slick as a whistle but re-blued at some point, a shooter.

Man I'd worry about it if I went that far. I'm about as happy with more simple, less expensive, toys. I may still do it one day. Get me a real SAA Colt.

I love the things, but have long fingers like the Cryptkeeper. They fit me perfectly and work EVERY time I pull the trigger.

Guns are like vehicles and a few other things. You just have to find what fits and works for you.

My buddy who owns the LGS and is a Glock dealer had a certificate for free attendance to the Glock Armorer's course and gave it to me. After attending the one day course they started growing on me. They will never be a nice or as aesthetic pleasing as my wheel guns or 1911 but I trust them for all my concealed carry needs.

As always, I say go with whatever tickles your fancy. A work horse does not always have to look like a mule, some can be as good looking as any show horse!
