I carry the S&W Model 340 in .357 a lot also. Working around the ranch I wear the 1911 as much as any.

For many years a Colt Officer's Model.
For the past 4 years, a Ruger Lightweight Commander Style.
But on occasion I'll carry a S&W 360 or even a Ruger Vaquero Montado.

That's what we keep propped up over by the piano in our living room. Everyone knows how to use both. The 870 has 8 rounds in the mag. and a mounted flashlight, the side folder .30 cal. has a 30 rnd. mag in it. Both have empty chambers but are ready.

*We don't live in town, a little ways out.

Handgun I'm not that particular. But it seems to usually be a Glock .45 of some sort. I mostly actually "carry" a Kahr .45 or .380. It's the thinness and light weight I mostly like.

A shotgun is an excellent choice. As Clint Smith of Thunder Ranch says "it removes chunks off people's body." I have a Remington 870 with a nice ghost ring rear sight.

I also keep an AR close because we have coyotes & other bandits running across the pasture trying to steal chickens. And I don't want to scatter pellets all over the coop with the shotgun. The AR is a S&W VTAC model. Not my first choice for an AR, but it was provided by my work. The VTAC upgrades include a nice Geissele trigger, a VTAC rail (I think its actually made by Troy Ind), a VTAC sling (which are great for the combat shooter) and topped off with a Burris 1-6x24. All this jazz is for designated marksmen at my department. Its a little heavy and long to be clearing buildings with.

BTW- Magpul makes a great little bipod which i have on the rifle.

My daily carry is 2 Glock 43X (yes 2, for the ol' New York reload or to arm someone else).

Commander size 1911 in .45

Glock 19 and Glock 42 when bicycling-- it fits in a bike jersey

recoil better with the arthritis in my hands. I still love my 1911 Kimber .45acp but the recoil is getting harder the older I get. For around the house, I have a Model 1300 Winchester pump shotgun 12 ga. I keep three in the tube magazine and the chamber empty, side saddle with 5 additional rounds. I have it loaded with 00 buck but have a couple of #4 field loads in the side saddle so I can go with what I think is appropriate at the time.

Glock I own is a 43 with a +1 pierce finger extension. Waiting for Shield Arms to come up with a 10 shot. Home defense, a kelteck S2k Gen2 in 9mm with Glock mags and a bushnell TR25. I like the folding stock and the “hide-ability” when folded.

Mil-spec AR-15, and a Glock or two. My every day carry is a lightweight commander in .45 ACP.......but I also have a Glock 43 on me as well. Best thing about Glocks I have never had a failure to feed or extract....most reliable pistol I own. A mil-spec AR is a mil-spec AR....
