Reeder Custom Guns - The Glock 30 Gen 4 does not disappoint...

After making most of the mods I want on the Glock 30 I added, it was time to give it a workout. New to the defense guns, I had some leaning to do.

The mods thus far includes a machined aluminum slide plate, adjustable rear sight, stainless recoil rod and springs and grip plug. Ordered some magazine plates that add the finger groove. But, mail is slow during the holidays.

Accuracy was surprising after shooting a magazine full to get used to the trigger. Groups averaged about 2.5" at 15 yards freehanded, slow fire. They increased to about 4" firing the magazine empty as fast as I could.

The big surprise was velocity. Ammo only lost 25-40 fps going to the little gun from a full sized 5" barrel. Recoil was nothing to get excited about. The dual stage spring really works.

It basically is the same gun except for the thinner 9mm spec. slide and .45 barrel/guts in the top unit. I also changed the back plate for my jollies and did the mag bottoms with Pearce finger grips. I keep it in my glove box with an extra 10 shot and one G21 13-shot mag.

It serves well for about anything I need to go armed. Usually I either carry in my black Reeder belt slide I wear every day or maybe Mexicun style in the back of the pants. It's lots lighter than a 1911 and has more firepower.

With no barrel link, bushing, locking lugs, it is amazing how it can repeat the rigid lock up with that big mono-bloc barrel hood and the slide port. I’ve impressed myself with the G21 chassis and scope mounted. However the .460 bent the mount through frame pin on the scope mount. It was a silly thing to do. The frame flexes all over under the punishment.

The Gen4 guns have steel sights, ambi-able mag buttons, and multi-spring captive recoil systems. Different nubs on the frame. I’m using Gen3 steel aftermarket guide rods with slide adapter button for my bigger gun.

The G30s runs pretty much stock internally.
