Kind of forgot about this one but up for a second look...

Stainless 5shot Ultimate Black Widow chambered in 44Magnum, 5-7/8" barrel, bought this one lightly used 3-4yrs ago and have only shot a few rounds through it, Used 180gr Rem factory loads and noticed little rub marks on the cylinder after 5 rds and put away, was going to have Gary touch up the cylinder but never got around to it.

ring on the cylinder is almost impossible to not have if you have a transfer bar. On the transfer bar guns as soon as you start to cock the gun the bolt underneath the cylinder pops up and rubs on the cylinder. We can shorten the bolt but if you cock the gun fast there is a chance it will miss the notch and slip past to the next chamber. So it is just something we have to live with. We gained a safer gun but got a light line on the cylinder.

Gary, I saw a custom matte stainless revolver once that had some polished narrow bands in a few places, for looks I guess. I wondered if you did that at the notches would it make the line less noticeable and maybe decrease the drag a little?

cylinder between the bolt notches are over pressure signs if im not mistaken..the cylinder mashes hard against the top strap upon firing the hot load....im not referring to the ring from turning the cylinder. Seen this before...but correct me if im wrong in this case. Not saying anything wrong with the revolver, just that it might have seen some pretty hot loads at some point. A 5 shot cylinder don't mean you can load it beyond the manual, or reason.

The circled marks are what I was talking about, when I bought the gun they weren’t there, gun looked new, I had a box of factory loaded Remington 180gr that I ran 5 rds of through the gun, when I went to unload/reload I noticed those marks and quit shooting them, haven’t had it back out since.
Here is the ammo that did it,

I am certain that the gun is ok and will shoot again sometime if I don’t sell it, just thinning the accumulation out a bit.

the top strap and the bottom of the window frame. This usually leaves a horizontal line all the way across the cylinder. The lines on that cylinder are in one spot so it looks to me like during the expanding it wasn't as hot as some and the only marks it made were where it hit the screw hole in the front bottom of the cylinder window where the screw is. The ammo wasn't an extremely hot load as it didn't leave the horizontal line all the way across the cylinder but was hot enough to expand into the screw hole.
