I am suprised that the gun industry got caught flat footed. Im sure they look at monthly numbers and try to forecast.
I do realize that most of the gun companies are up north and they have been shut completely down. But irs like remingtons little Rock Arkansas plant was running at half or less production for the last year

I've read estimates of an increase of new gun owners...

Up to 66% in 2020. This has been compounded by the new gun owners enjoying their new sport.

Apparently a lot of new gun owners discovered that they really enjoy shooting guns as they take courses and shoot for the first time.

This combined with the political climate, riots and calls to defund the police all hit in one year

I doubt any industry could keep up in the current environment.

I'll give kudos to the gun shop owners who do their best to keep up and distribute fairly.

Absolutely agree with the fairness.
I still have two gunshops that have small rifle primers at 3.50 a hundred. You can only buy a hundred.. but they are there if you need them and they don't tolerate the guys who are trying to stack back a bunch of extras.
If you come and shoot at the range, they don't give you any grief
