Reeder Custom Guns - If you guys are not shooting semi-auto rounds in your SA

With an extra cylinder you don’t know what you are missing. Most of the time the extra cylinders are pretty paper weights. But in odd times they add a wonderful flexibility and add versatility to your shooting. I added a .327 cyl. to my .300 GNR and I can shoot about any .32 round there is, including .32 ACP. About any Ruger .357 can add a 9mm cylinder for a few hundred. Lots cheaper than a whole gun. I can’t explain why a 9mm works out of a .357, it shouldn’t, but it does. Ditto the .45 ACP on the .45 Colt. Nuts like Huey and I have .38-40 and .401 GNR which cheerfully shoot .40 S&W or 10mm. The .40 S&W is one of the most underrated revolver cartridges I’ve ever shot! Taurus is the only one I know seriously tried it in a 2” small revolver. But they tried some goofy extraction system when it only needed full clips.

GNR can make you a custom cylinder hand fitted far beyond what any factory part might be. It’s worth considering for sure!

In a DA that will accept them the tiny rims jump the ejection stars. But if the firing pin has the reach and a sloppy fit does not take all the zip from the hammer hit, it can work. If only for a dire Die Hard or Red Dawn application. Good to know. Most .22 WMR will happily fire .22 RF, while bulging or even splitting the cases (surely spitting a bit of gas too) it fires.

I read an article where a robber was caught with a .44 revolver (I think it was abroad where resources are limited). They found he had TWO .22 rimfire rounds in each .44 cylinder! While he had bad judgement and knew little of firearms it seems his math skills were still intact. Lol

using a .22 Mag case fired in the gun, cut the rim off. Clean any burrs. Slip a Long Rifle into the .22 Magnum tube and into the gun. No splits. Accuracy is preserved.

For a hunting revolver, I usually just set up one cylinder.

There are just too many authorities in the world to suit me. People that spout off which cartridges are great and which ones are useless, gimmicks, etc. Never minded anyone having or voicing an opinion. But, most of the internet authorities have never fired the rounds they post about.

I like versatility for times like these. Ammo is hard to get, but once fired brass is donated by the buckets by ranges.

I like to actually get out and actually shoot these guns. That's the tell-tell for me.

ironed out the kinks on their special ejection system? Kind of like Chinese handcuffs. So much easier just to use clips.
