Needing a start load for 300 grain, 285grain, or 235 grain bullets. This is for an Encore, but Contender info would be great too.
I have been using RE15, but down to my last pound and I don’t have H4895 or IMR3031.
I have 2015, one pound of Varget, and US869. Haven’t needed rifle powder for awhile, so this is LarryH’s fault

I took a nice Whitetail at the Y-O a few years back.

About 100 yds. with an Encore .378 GNR using IMR4064 and a Hornady 270 gr. Spire Point. It was about 100 fps under the hotter 3031 that Sean was using. I think I remember that.

I'll get the load at work for you. Of course you have to work up to it in your gun. I like to seat my bullets a little off the lands to. That affords several grains more internal capacity. Not that I fill it all up but it can afford some pressure level flexibility.

It's just a little down from 3031 in speed but not as hot pressure. Puffy liked 3031 too.

2008 at the Y-O, I was sick as a dog. The Encore .378 did it's job, one shot, no tracking.

I’m thinking that 50 grains of 4064 for a safe start Contender load. So the Encore start would be about 54 grains. I’ll start at 50 and go from there. Thanks again.
