For our district who is telling people that all the ammo manufacturers have gotten together and created an ammunition shortage.

I don't believe this is helpful in any way. We saw the train coming. Some got off the tracks, some stood there to see what happens.

My LGS is no fool, he bought a warehouse full while cheap

It's simple business and marketing patterns. Their family are multi-millionaires and have buying power and places to put it. They bought at $5 a box and selling now at $40 a box. People are happy it is available too.

Is he a bad person for making 800% profits because he made smart investments? (while he can) It's free market capitalism, if you don't want it don't buy it. If it won't sell at a price the market will make it come down to the point people will pay. The people employ well over 100 people and sell motorcycles, ATV, boats, RV, guns, bows, and everything you can imagine that goes with them. Diversification and smart planning will see them through this situation. They have a heck of an overhead but own all the buildings and most of the stock free and clear. Oh they go borrow a million or so on occasion for cash flow or a volume buy but they have the power to pay it back too. I went to High School with the owner.

if he is selling the product at rip off prices then yes, he

he is not only a fool but a crook too. I don't care if he does have millions, if he made his millions off screwing his neighbors then he is a crook, plain and simple.

It's market price, don't want folks re-selling

It's like me bitching that a SKS I paid $75 for is now $600! If you had a pallet of old stock you'd not sell 'em for $99, surely. There has to be equilibrium some place. It really makes you think.

He's selling for LESS than $1 a round.

My $.02 if you buy a commodity as an investment

And hold it for years you should be able to make 10% a year on your investment in markup and be an investor. 800% makes you something different. You buy property, or a car, boat, rare coins. And sit on it till you get what ever the market brings regardless of % profit that’s Fine. That is a “want”, not a need, like a commodity.

It is a free market that we live in (for now)...

I've been hit up several times already for ammo and primers. I gave a brick of Small Rifle Primers to a friend, but don't have any to sell.

It was explained to me that they just didn't get around to buying any. Interesting enough, I haven't heard from him since the rimfire shortage.

I'm by this like I am new cartridges, guns or anything. If you don't want it, don't buy it. If someone tries to rob the public and ruins their business, oh well. That's the very definition of free market.

somebody needs to turn his ass in to the company he
