They can be a great value. Goers killed his first handgun deer with one just like that. He had it and the opportunity presented itself, his family really needed the meat. I’ve read of several Black bear taken with the likes of the .25-20, .32-20, .32 and 35 WSL etc. Tons more with the .38-40 and .44-40, just because it was handy. It’s about penetration and placement. They all are going about the speed of a .22 RF. Just a bigger slug.
A tip, use the case mouth expander that is with the die set the other operations are made. Typically you must use .311-314” bullets for accuracy. The target HBWC is a magnificent bullet inside 50 yds.
