Well, I've decided to add an AR-15. Never cared about owning

One, but times are changing. Believe I'll go with Ruger. The fit and finish on them are great. Looked at a S&W, but not really thrilled with them.

Will see how this goes...

I bough an AR before the Trump hildabeast

Election, 15 magazines and 5k rounds. Still sitting there unused. I never shoot rifles, but no one is going to tell me I can’t own one.

I should have bought one in 2017...

But, hindsight is good. My LGS DOES NOT price gouge, so I'm ok on that

I did buy ammo following the last election. Academy had it on for $2.74/20 rounds. I bought some for my Ruger #1 in 223 Remington.

Will see if I can get the one I want in a few days.

Probably psychological, but I just prefer that little Ruger Phoenix on the side. I feel good about supporting the company and have since 1979...

Good for you H. I find them kinda fun these days though

I limit myself to 25 per gun per shooting session. I’m currently having fun with a windham weaponry A3 rifle....not the HBar. It is much lighter and shoots just great. I use peep sights these days as much as scopes. I also have a Bison armory 6.8spc rifle that I had built for hogs. I like the caliber quite a lot. Also, a 223 wylde and a 300 whisper. May add a 450 BM as I have one more unspoken for lower.

ARs are tinker toys for us boys!!

Like Gary says stick to Mil-Spec.

they are all pretty much the same and modular. I buy bottom "halves" from one place (my FFL guy) and top units from another vendor. I usually have to swap around small items like stocks or grips to suit what I actually want but it's terrible fun.

I currently have some 5.56, 9mm, and .350 Legend. I had a neat .450 Bushmaster 10.5" Pistol I put together. After playing with it a bit I found the .350 more to my liking. It was a serious blaster! The .350 puts out a 200 gr. faster and flatter than the .450's 250 gr., holds more rounds too. Basically a semi-.35 Remington using cast bullets. EVERYONE needs an AR 5.56 pistol in their battery!

I'm experimenting with a modified AR to "gas-piston". So far so good.

I'll never be into ARs. It's just not my thing...

I'll fix one factory gun up to suit me and that'll be the end.

Enjoy reading about the exploits, but it's a huge gap between my beloved single shots and ARs.

I will admit to enjoying tinkering with the Glocks.

Get the AR, ammo. Put up for emergency.

It’s a terrible indulgence. So easy to tinker with. Roman hates my subtle tastes. I don’t see anything that different. A hint of old school XM177 perhaps.

Mine: (both sport 10.5” barrels and carbine length gas systems)

His: *26” to end of buffer tube, not counting brace. He just ordered a fancy Eotech EXPS3-2 for it.

The last one I put together was from palmetto state. It was a very nice milspec gun for around 500. Then put a cmmg trigger in 3lbs. Endsd up being a very nice gun

Ruger?

I believe the Ruger operates in a different fashion than the others. I don't know if that is good or bad, just something to consider. Might reconsider the S&W. I've seen several positive reviews.
