customs office and we were always the only ones there. I still haven't made up my mind what calibers I am taking yet. For sure the 450 GNR as 3 of us, David Manson, Alcorn Russell and I will take a short hop to an area that hasn't been hunted in a long long time. The Cape Buffalo there are supposed to be big and mean, just what I am looking for. The area is a lot more expensive but this will be my last African trip so it will be worth it. After my big buffalo's hide and horns were stolen from the taxidermist, John Abraham, our PH and head honcho, said he will find me a bigger one. My last one was #1 handgun for a while and I guess it is #2 or 3 now, but finding a bigger one sounds exciting. This was my last one, pics taken by one of the other hunters.
In the first pic the buff spotted these intruders.

He next trotted closer stomping the ground giving us has first warning.

Then his next warning while beginning to ignore us

Then he decided to go find one of his lady friends.

Right about then we got there and got out of the Land Cruiser. The buff made a mock charge to about 40 yards or so. John told me he would do the mock charge, then stomp the ground and say bad things about my Mother. He said the buff would then turn his head one way or the other and pretend to ignore us. He said when he did, to bust him, point of shoulder. The 500 grain Hornady Dangerous Game Expanding soft point did what it was supposed to. The buff went down with one shot. John's Jack Russell Mosi was right there to do his part.

In the pic the bullet's entrance hole is visible. He was slightly facing to my left and the bullet hit him at an angle into the upper shoulder.

My main worry on this hunt, is, I was lucky the first time and put the Buff down with one shot. I hope I won't let John down and have a pissed off wounded 2000 lb buffalo want to make our acquaintance. Good Lord willing, we shall see.
Back to the original topic. I will probably do what I did last time and bring my 310 GNR, which is one of the most accurate handguns I have ever shot. Probably the 3rd handgun will be the 416 GNR with a 400 grain solid. That one is just in case something happens to the 450. Murphy's Law. And I am interested in hearing what the rest of the group is bringing.
