Late shooting report. Sometimes we

shoot too much at one session and it begins to not be very productive. We get flinchy. I was bad out of practice myself. Shooting is in large a state of mind, can you turn off to do the job? I've had trouble there.

To break up the big guns we broke out some new light kickers. The M1873 Spaghetti carbine in .44 WCF. Shooting lead Cowboy loads that were subsonic it did well, our eyesight and the iron sights not so well. lol Doug really showed out while we did our initial sighting at 25 yds. It shot quite high, sights are not adjustable to go lower other than manual regulation. Perhaps some lighter bullets loaded a bit warmer.

All touching. The gun can shoot if you can see. I think he had a center hold here. (6" high to POA, 25 yds.)

At 100 yds. we were sighting at this bottom target! (18" high to POA)

The little Australian BSA Martini .310 was a real hoot! I have not checked them but they were just subsonic too, about the same speed as the .44 WCF from the bang whack at 100 yds. This is where I left the Redfield sight adjustment at 25 yds. about 3" high.

Remember this shoots a centerfire heel 120 gr. bullet. There is a real trick at getting a heeled bullet to shoot sweet. I was most pleased my research and study of the special needs panned out perfectly. I only lost that one case I knew would split, the rest are perfect. It's just a big .22 rimfire sensation. The peeps were most welcome as again we struggled to sight. At 25 yds. the groups ran about 1" for 3 shots, at 100 yds. they opened up a little (around 4") but we were pulling fliers too. I think it can cut that in half, wouldn't that be something! I got the sights set at 100 yds.

100 yds. is a long ways fighting our spectacles.

With a setting of 3" high at 25 yds. we were still about 1.5" high at 100 yds.

We finished up making certain Gary's old Africa .378 GNR was sighted in to suit us. A nice 1-1/4" 100 yd. group, in failing light is not bad, we'll take it. 260 gr. Accu-bonds propelled by a stiff load of RL-22. It was a good day of shooting.
