I think it needs a rim and the shoulder of the Remington is not as defined as it could be. The .355 GNR solves those issues and needs mainly a re-chamber, maybe a internal part adjusted here or there to enhance feeding.
It's almost too easy to accomplish and several performance enhancing points are gained.
It has worked a lot of years...

but handloading it can jump the extractor since it has that cheap ass spring steel ring type clip Marlin has "used for many years" on teh round bolt 336/1895. It sort of works. As does that horrible excuse for an ejector, it's a hairpin for Pete's sake.
It's all proof that just because it's been done that way for a long time does not mean it's necessarily good or the best way.
What is shocking to me is that it works at all. The late model folding rear sight blade is another crazy design. Potmetal and barely held in place. Most shooters will never know.
The .35 Remington was truly best in the Remington line of semi-autos and pumps for which it was designed. Ditto the .25, .30 Remington. Honestly rimless versions of the .25-35 and .30-30 Winchester.
I love the 35 Remington. Up north it’s a great caliber. Not

Trying to take work away from Gary. But it is a nice caliber to have. Just my opinion.
