I ventured to the LGS today...

we are blessed with several good shops with good people. The ammo is available around here anyway, if a little scattered. One fellow did venture in asking for .38 or .357, to no avail. I offered the notion a good time to trade for a .40 or 10mm, plenty of that around. He hinted he had that covered. I was able to buy a couple boxes of .22 WMR for $20 each and I picked up a 50 rnd. box of Federal 10mm FMJ 180's for $25. I like their flat points.

He has some fair stock of used guns. Always brightens when I walk in, he gallops for anything new, weird, and good money. lol He first showed me a late teens M12 Winchester that literally looked new. 28" solid rib full. (good thing I already have an example) I'm certain you'd need a keen eye not to miss a squirrel sitting still at 30 paces. The next was a bit more tempting. A Martial Winchester M1907 in .351 WSL. The more is mint, a couple superficial cracks where you know to look but expected. My goodness the wood is twice as thick as commercial models. I figure to butt-stroke a foe in the forehead perhaps! The curly tip on the action rod and a steel butt are also two tells. I saw three or four M24 Smiths! I seem to have bought the bargain last month.

It was a nice diversion and way to end my year. I'm taking the next couple days off.
