An old wives tale says it's bad to spend money
on the first day of the year. We have laughingly always taken up that challenge as a family. We've had our Blackeye peas and cabbage too. I bought this before Christmas as an ending to the year, but collected it just this day.
I grew tired of researching all the Uberti copies for shooters of the type and kept looking at this old Bisley listed by an antiques dealer up north. He seemed a gun fancier if not all that knowledgeable, he was able to research it to some degree. He answered my questions efficiently and adequately. I don't think I got hurt on it even though it's been re-blued and is the most common caliber produced...and a Bisley. I like it and it's my actual "first" genuine centerfire SA Colt. I think I'll keep it. Let the kids fight over it later.

I don't have my pin gauges here but the throats seem just a bit tighter than my .311" Ruger SP101 in .32 H&R. Maybe 0.0005-0.001", I'll see later. Plus I want to slug the bore just to see. This fellow in CA that makes my .310 Martini bullets has .314" HPWC that are lube coated for $50/500 delivered. That's over 7 lbs. of lead and my time is worth something, not a bad deal I don't think. Huey was right.
The .32 HBWC might be a good bullet for general plinking with the old Colt, forgiving with such a bearing surface. It's also supposed to bump up to fill even the little .323" Martini in a pinch. Allowing me to shoot so loaded .32/20 in that gun in a pinch. Useful also in my other Colt and Ruger .32.
I'm thankful the Good Lord waited this long to allow me to experience this one, I can really appreciate for what it is now. I'm going to see how long I can go this year without "buying" a gun. If only for my own bemusement, I know I'm weak. I hope to focus on refinement of existing arms and enjoying using them. It's going to be a good year, because I will work toward that objective with a positive attitude, assured of God's ultimate Blessings, no matter if the whole world burns down around me. I'm good to go.
