Lee liked to come up with special Auto Mag series

His Model 100 was the one the Auto Mag lovers wanted, although most couldn't afford it. I traded and sold off several guns to be able to get my first one. Lee also had his 4" Backpacker in 44 Auto Mag. He also had his Model 200 which was the gun with a shoulder stock that took a special federal license. But the series he sold the most of was the Model 100 in the case you showed.
At the time I got my first Model 100 I was shooting a Model 280, solid bolt gun, in 41 JMP, Lee's own creation. It was so accurate and never seemed to fail me if I did my part, that the new Model 100 I had recently bought, just sat in my safe. It was in 357 AMP, which was Lee's favorite caliber, even though he had developed the 41 JMP.
The 3 Auto Mag cartridges, 44 Auto Mag, 41 Auto Mag (JMP), and 357 Auto Mag.

Just as today, when I open my safe I automatically reach for my 9" G-2 in 41 GNR. There are other calibers that would do just as well, but that 41 GNR belongs in my hand if there is a hunt coming up. Lee told me several times the 357 Auto Mag was the best of the bunch and the one he reached for when he was going on a hunt. He shot the big bears with the 44 Auto Mag but for general hunting it was the 357 Auto Mag.
So, Erik, I envy you that new Auto Mag, and I hope you actually use it and not just let it sit in the safe. But should you ever tire of it, you have my number.

Didn't that belong to Capt. Bear? Whatever happened to him? A very interesting character I was fortunate enough to meet at an HHC. I liked the pic of him in a coyote skin hat, Encore and bison in deep snow, looked like a modern Mountain Man.
I don't remember who that particular Auto Mag

belonged to. I engraved quite a few Auto Mags and we built several sets of stag grips for some them too, so I am not sure.
Sweet!!!
