It's a real blaster but was not made with any other provision for sighting than peep sights. IT certainly had the power to benefit from optical sighting. But in it's day it was designed for serious work. Optics were still more a European feature than Yankee on some platforms, particularly leverguns. I guess you could mount one on a side mount but I have never seen one done so.
I know a guy that had a Deluxe 71. He laid it atop his car top and drove off. He heard something and looked in the rear mirror to see the rifle spinning along on the asphalt at 50 mph. The story alone made me tear up some! I think he still has it but what a sad tale.
I think Dave Manson has one and likes it very much. Shot a charging Grizzly momma with it!
