Reeder Custom Guns - My first Reeder

I picked up the Ultimate .410 GNR a few days ago and must say I am impressed. The feel of the grip is great and it fits my hand like it was made for it. The action is smooth and crisp and the finish looks great.

with that 410 GNR. I shot an African Savannah buffalo with mine, one shot put him down. That was using a 255 grain hard cast gas check bullet. Point of shoulder shot, blew up both lungs. [image]

The gun came with some Colorado Custom Cartridge ammo in 170 gr JHC @ 1900 FPS and 250 gr LFN-GC @ 1640 FPS. Since there is more in the 170 gr rounds and I am going to try it out on deer I thought I would try it first. What would be a good starting point to sight it in at? The most I would shoot in my lease is about 200 yards but I would want to practice a lot first before trying that on live game, except Coyotes because I hate them with a passion. Is there a ballistic chart in Gary’s book?

would only pertain to one load in your gun. My reloading manual would have to be the size of a large 3" thick manual to have ballistic charts for each of the 68 cartridges listed. Basically in a 6" revolver the 250 grain LBT bullet will do around 1650. The 210 Hornady will do around 1800. The 170 Sierra will do around 1900 fps. Guns vary as do the speeds with various loads.

A whitetail deer will seldom take even one step after being hit with the 170 grain Sierra.

each time you change cylinders you have to re-sight the gun in as the ballistics are completely different in most cases. It is much easier to have 2 or 3 loads in the main cylinder and know where those loads will hit at various distances.
