Reeder Custom Guns - I’m picking up a .30-30 Contender

barrel next week and am thinking of sending it out to Gary to have it re-chambered for 30 GNR. What I’m curious about and am hoping my fellow Misfits can answer is this....What type of accuracy do you see when firing factory .30-30 loads in your 30 GNR to fire form them? I have 11 boxes of factory ammo sitting around....Winchester and Federal. Mostly 150 grain.

Gary hooked him up with a barrel and I gave him a G2 chassis and Burris 2-7X. That will handle about anything he might come against. Shooting factory .30-30 is fine, about 1700 fps give or take. Sure you burn a lot more powder with the .30 GNR but you get 2400 fps in comparison. I could never break 2000 with a normal .30-30 and 14" as hard as I tried.

A 170 gr. .30-30 at 1700 fps will shoot through about anything too! Instant.30 GNR brass.
