Reeder Custom Guns - busy day today

totally ignoring my Dr's "recommendations" I did a big batch
of bluing, a small batch of Fire Blue and split about half a pick up load of wood. Wore my ass out but I couldn't stand to just sit around doing nothing which I have become very good at lately. Tonight I have to get started on my paperwork for Africa in April. As much as I look forward to my last Africa hunt I dread the paperwork. I realize it is just a small "bump in the road" toward better things but paperwork, especially governmental paperwork is just a pain in the butt. But in recognition of my Doctor's wishes I think I'll take a nap first.

You would still walk in circles till you got everything done. Naps are good! I don’t care who you are. Just don’t over do it. Remember, self discipline is key to a good life

discipline was not a requirement and was shunned by most. Those that were calm, disciplined, self composed, dependable, and respectful didn't last long in radio.

The bluing, both Black Chromex and Fire bluing is just waiting for tanks to come to temp, them putting the baskets of parts in the tanks, then watching the temps and taking them out a couple of hours later when the temps were right. Then in a rinse bath and an oil bath and wrap them up in an oily cloth. Nothing stressful. The wood splitting is placing a big piece of wood on the electric splitter and pushing a button. None of these were stressful just time consuming. But it felt good to be out doing something.

splitting wood with an axe and maul. We heated with wood in the 80's and 90's before the popularity of splitters. Used to get heated from the same wood three times, once when I cut it, again when I split it and then finally when I burned it.

penned up here at home for the last several weeks is I haven't had the urge to turn the TV or radio on. Of course when I do get into the shop I hear it all but I try to stay away from as much of it as I can. I have one of the Nooks and have over 450 books on it so I have plenty to keep me occupied.
