trap registration in the mail Friday.

This year I made the decision to obtain my Massachusetts trappers license. To lawfully trap in this state you need to have a license and then registration tags on your traps.

Sadly due to the liberal elite in the Boston area restraint traps( leg hold) are not allowed. So you are limited to cage traps and 220 conibear for beaver with a special permit from a town for damage control.

So I do have some 220's and a couple of cage traps. I will place an order for two special cage traps for beaver. Beaver are a bit of a problem in this state so it is not hard to find a spot to catch the giant rodents.

I know it will not be a financial going concern but something fun to do in the winter and early spring.

Also if I am successful the plan is to make some clothing out of the pelts and dare I say, table fare?

I have a Mason jar of beaver stew in the fridge from a friend. So I figure I'll be able to supplement my larder with canned beaver meat.

This past year was another deer and bear less year. It seems I have lost my "mojo" for a lack of a better term. It could also be that I am hunting lousy spots. But the plan is to make some changes. One of them, trapping.
