fight against cancer.

Hello, everyone, We now have the results of Allie's recent scans and MRI's..unfortunately, they were not as " negative" as we would have liked.. in other words, she is still testing positive for tumors specifically in her brain..she was to have an MRI yesterday and when she arrived at UCSD, she had a pounding pressure headache and then threw up so they had to cancel the MRI and rescheduled it for today (Saturday)..Hopefully, she rested enough today to lessen the headache which is caused by the pressure in her brain from the remaining tumors and the side effects of the radiation...She is so unbelievably strong and determined to conquer her cancers that she constantly amazes us !!! she never complains and simply sets her resolve to meet whatever new challenges those nasty cancer cells throw her way... we were there for a week, when we left , Lindsay drove over for 6 days.. she can work from Allison's and it's a good distraction for Allie...We will be returning in early February after we have received our 2nd Covid vaccine shot...at least, this is our plan...Allie has good friends nearby who take her to these appointments when we or LIndsay are not there.. Allison is always paying it forward" to her friends who help out by driving her or going to the grocery store.. we got Costco gas cards for Allie to give her friends and then she makes beautiful flower arrangements for them..of ten from roses and succulents in her own yard...she is always thinking of others and Patti and i will always treasure the beautiful 50th anniversary video which included pictures, a story in her own words, and a fabulous song called "the perfect love" by Beyonce...please continue to keep her in your prayers as she faces more radiation and constant scans and tests..her medical team is top notch now, we made a few changes about 1 &1/2 years ago .. a new pain management Dr. instead of the ineffective Palliative Care group and a new medical oncologist after her originally assigned fabulous Dr. retired..there was a very mediocre med oncol assigned to her and after 2 appts when all he kept saying was "that's not in my wheelhouse" , Allison told him he was definitely "not a fit" and she asked for Dr. Paul Fanta, a Brophy and U of A medical school grad...and he has been WONDERFUL and PROACTIVE...a Dr. from TGen , here in Phoenix, has also reached out to us and Dr. Fanta will be consulting with him soon.. please do keep her in your prayers..LOTS OF THEM !!! and she is always happy to have mail in her mailbox that isn't medical related.. encouraging notes and thoughts are always appreciated by Allison.. here is her address Allison Herf 3429 Ray Street, San Diego, Ca., 92104...
Stay safe.
Charlie
