my Great Uncle had a BIG 4 3/4" Colt SAA in .38 Long Colt. He used his big gun to kill 3 bears. The 4th one he shot nearly got him and he quit using it in favor of a rifle.

Thinking back then was different than it is now. A lot of people thought the .380 was a big gun at one time.
