The .50 Smith carbine bullet might be a player for the old .50 C&B that Gary did a few years back. I really think the .50 REAL bullet with its three progressive sized bands might also be a winner. The designs are more aerodynamic looking than what we know to be more effective today.

The .50 Smith bullet looks a little long and heavy. The 250 grain Real bullet looks promising, if anyone has them in stock.

It was a 250 gr. REAL but I cut the bottom ring off to use the body as a gas check shank. The bullets ended up being around 200 gr. I shot them out of the .510 GNR revolver at velocities I’m embarrassed to say. They worked! I was even headed toward loading a duplex load (two projectiles).

That is similar to what i was going to do, once i find that REAL bullet mold. I wasn’t planning on using a gas check, but that will work for now. Thank you for letting me borrow it.
If i can find a mould, i plan to shorten it just a bit more than you have done. Plan on leaving top two bands. How did you do the left hand thread for the sprue plate?

I grind flats on the sides of that impossible little Phillips head screw and pinch the piss out of it with Vice-grips! LOL. It is a "self" tapping bushed screw and is deeply drilled to begin. The only issue is if you go too much and get into the pins holding the handles. You have to shorten those and peen them to stay below the sprue plate sliding above them. But you have to really go crazy shortening them to get to that point.

Put a dab of valve lapping compound in the screw head, it grips that way. You may need to put your vice grips on the screwdriver shaft, or a quarter inch box end wrench on the replaceable tip, to turn the screwdriver. Valve lapping compound trick works with electric screwdrivers too. You won’t want to be without valve lapping compound again. Replaceable tips will shatter occasionally, so use caution.
