Who got the NEI 267-375 GC mould?

I think I have identified the odd NEI one I collected.

The SLP was a two mould set. The one I have is the nose piece (SLP) to be cast soft. The mate was a "base" with gas check and designed to be cast of harder alloy to be driven fast once the soft nose was glued/bonded with it.

I was inquiring if someone may have bought the other Mould and found it an odd looking hollow point wadcutter looking thing? If by happenstance that is possible, we need to get together, figuratively speaking. LOL

Looks like you set the nose piece in the

Full bullet mould then close it up and pour the base around it. But maybe not, would be nice to see what the other mound looks like

I remember Lyman had a 2-PC pistol mould

Back in the 70’s I think. You epoxied them together. I’m not sure about the NEI?

It’s so interesting anyway. The search is worth trouble in info I’ve gained.

Had a marshmallow on the front cover with an article about using pure lead nose with hard cast base. At the time I tried casting from two separate lead pots to duplicate the process. Unless you got the lead really hot it was difficult to meld the two lead pours together. I eventually gave up. Too much trouble.

That design looks like it would "lock" the to pieces

together where they could not actually separate. Even if they did not actually meld together. It might spin but I do not think they could fall apart. Just by looking.

I also tried punching a ragged hole

In the gas checks and inserting them in the driving bands of the bullet mold prior to pouring lead in the mold. The idea was to create a partitiontype bullet with copper driving bands. Again the lead had to be really hot to fill the mold.

I read of inserting preheated copper/brass rings into the bands and pouring the lead, also.

I’m sure it would be hard to get a good fill

If the nose piece was put in cold. Maybe keeping them hot would help. But then how are you going to fumble that little bullet nose into the cavity quickly ready for the pour when it’s 300-400 degrees

Very interesting though

I was researching and have not found it exactly

but there was an article listed citing the "SLP" bullet mould. One fellow thought he remembered that you cast the nose soft, then inserted it into the other mould and poured a base onto it.

Maybe... the funny nose mould I have does seem to look like it might copy that mould profile. And I guess the configuration of the appendage out the rear might lock it on when you try to cast the base. I do know I had a devil of aa time trying to "double pour" in a conventional mould. The lead would separate, not blend. Until I heated and melted the lead while in the mould with a torch.

Bottom line is you might want this mould I have to complete the set! If it is what I think it might be it would be a very special set for casting.

Carl, if you don't want the point mould I have would

you consider selling the one you have for double what you paid?! One of us needs to make a set. I'd buy it from you or trade you. I have the 265 FNGC Lyman for the .38-55 or .375 Win. DC too.

I would be interested in reuniting the two molds. Four of the vent lines have tiny dings/divots where they meet the cavities, may fin a little there. I have built a 375 Raptor on an Axis, only have a .27 neck. I was originally thinking the Lee 379-250-RF with a driving band as I described below would work until my cheap self happened on this deal...
