Gary, Sean, or anybody playing with a .41 GNR#2,
I've been looking at the cartridge for a new barrel.
What kind of velocity should I expect in a 14" contender barrel with bullets in the 250-265 gr range?
Thanks
Alan
2000-2100 fps, Probably would go thru 2 bison

In .41, both 220 grains. They both penetrate extremely well, and hold up superbly. ![[image]](images/uploaded/202102121827396026c89b9a10f.png)

The Sierra Silhouette Bullet, 220 grain and a Cutting Edge, solid monolithic copper, 220 grain ( no lead, which is why it’s longer)
In my .41GNR#2 revolver, the Sierra Bullet is the most accurate I have found.
I have used that silhouette bullet on Bison,

Watusi bulls, bull elk, water buffalo and a lot of other large game in my 41 GNR and probably 99% of them were one shot kills. That is all I shoot in my 41s.
Gary, have you ever recovered one?

In 44, and 41 I’ve always had complete pass thrus. They have hit bone etc, and just keep going, creating a nice grape jelly wound channel. I hit a 400 lb bear ( walking straight at me) at the neck, shoulder area, coursing long ways. Exiting the rump. It was really too high of a shot, I muffed the hit on the chest cavity. That Sierra created a soda can wound channel all the way thru, taking out half of the spine with shock, turning it all to jelly. 5’ and still going.
I have never recovered a silhouette bullet from one of the

Gary,
I know you like the sierra silhouette bullets, and that's fine with me. I've had too many Sierra bullets fail miserably, so I don't shoot ANYTHING out of an ugly green box.
I have shot a good 265 grain cast bullet out of my .41mags for years, and like your experience, Ive never had an animal stop one; pigs and sheep in Hawaii, Bison in North Dakota, and deer in Colorado.
