Well we still have ice and cold. But I can’t find pigs! That is good though. I don’t want them here and my neighbors don’t either.

I’m looking to start trapping A neighbor says I can trap and bow hunt his place but doesn’t want me hunting with high power guns. (His words). He is worried about Me shooting his cows. I’ll try it as I need the space come deer season and if I prove I’m safe and show him a few dead pigs and maybe help him fix a fence or 2 maybe have e will warm up a bit.

qualms about shooting an animal but I can't warm up to trapping. Many years ago I raised Gordon Setters and one of my dogs disappeared for a few days. When he came back in he looked like he hadn't eaten in a month and was missing a front leg. He had chewed his own leg off to get out of a trap. Ever since then I have been totally against trapping. Killing an animal is one thing. Trapping that animal and letting it sit for days or weeks with a leg caught in a trap is just not right and a person that traps these days is not one of my favorite people. My opinion only.

Just basically a pen made with a trap door. I've never seen a hog harmed in a trap.

Most people here either shoot them or feed them until they grow off and butcher them.

I do agree on the jaw type traps...

We have buyers up here. Gary pigs can get out of corral traps. A sow will get in a corner and let the the Juveniles and piglets run up her back and jump out. I have also seen some pigs that can jump a 5 foot fence.
Piglets will squeeze through some traps.

national forests told me they have 30 foot square wire traps with wire covers and that they butt them up to the edge of the national forest and bait it with corn. Then when the pen is full of hogs they open one end and run them up into a large live animal hauler semi. From there they sell them to the various exotic game ranches. The national forest pays them to trap them and the game ranches pays them for the hogs so it is a win win situation.

I've seen as many as 14 caught in a trap in one night.

As wild as they are, they always eat. I've trapped them and thrown food in the next morning and they start eating. They are truly survivalist...
