Getting to the stage where I no longer shoot big boomers, I decided to sell my unfired, as new 470 Nitro Express Mega Beast. Great gun for pest control since if you are using a lesser caliber such as a 45-70 squirrels will charge if you merely wound them.

Checking, I was pleased to find that ammo for the 470 is currently available albeit hardly cheap. What was surprising is that it seems to not have risen to ‘gouge’ pricing in contrast to some of the more common big boomers. I guess there’s a case of supply and demand since most of the 470 out there has probably been sitting on shelves waiting to be sold while stuff like 308 is in high demand and starting to bring stupid prices — assuming you can find any to buy.
