Still have a 2.5" mid 1920's in 90% condition. These are a couple Gary worked over for Doug. When looking for a base gun make sure the timing is good unless you are or a good "Colt" gunsmith is handy. It's not a simple task to re-time one. They are quite accurate. Typically the bottom of the grips are broken at the locator pins. There is a technique for grip removal so this is avoided. But replica grips are available and GNR can make them anyway.
Doug had an old early Detective special reworked, and a Pocket Positive first issue (bottom). My M60 S&W is in the middle to show sizes. The Detective is a little bigger than the 5-shot S&W since it holds 6. The Pocket Colt is smaller than the J-frame but holds 6- .32 Long (new Police) rounds. The barrels are 2.5" and longer. I've seen a couple 6" Pocket Positives!
